At this moment, I use 200 categories, but this will changt to at least double of it... Only the page to manage the categories is loading extremely slow, since it needs to draw those 2000 combo-boxes. Is there a way to create categories by another way?

Thanks in advance
Frederic

I suggest you review the way you have organized your whole site: there's no need for a sub-category if you only have one album in it; I recommend you create appropriate albums within the parent category instead. Imo you have over-organized your site. I'm not sure what combo boxes you are refering to though, but I noticed that your site loads painfully slow, which seems to be caused by bad performance of your webserver.
After all you only have "692 files in 246 albums and 164 categories with 0 comments viewed 132 times" - this is overkill.

Thanks. I've designed and organised it for the future. I do have more then 10.000 photos, but, it will take some time to upload it. Therefore, I wanted to create the categories now. By combo-boxes, I mean drop-down menus (also called list-boxes).

You have to find a good balance between the need to organize your pics and the needs your future users will have: Imo, you should only create the structure you already have enough material for; if you later find out that there are too many albums within one category, you can always create child categories then and move the albums around (links won't even break ;)).
If you actually get the kind of traffic later that justifies such an enormous load of categories, you should really consider changing your webhosting package - this will increase the loading speed of your gallery both for your visitors as well as for you (e.g. when you're on the category page, with all the dropdown fileds that exist there). However, an estimated number of 10,000 pics in the future should imo break down like this: approx. 10 pics in an album => 1,000 albums => 100 categories (with an average of 10 albums per category) imo - there's no point in having less items within a structure item (be it a category or an album).
