Hi,

I am using coppermine on my own webserver. When i trie to send registration mails e.g. eCards, i get the following errors:

(when the smtp of my ISP configured)
Ran into problems sending Mail. Response: 500 5.5.1 Command unrecognized: "AUTH LOGIN"

(when smtp of my domain name (unused website))
Ran into problems sending Mail. Response: 550 Administrative prohibition

Proberly it has something to do with relaying or somthing like that, but it aint working.

My question is, is there any way to solve this problem,
if anyone knows some other free smtp servers witch do allow this way of authentication, can you please tel me?

nothing we could possibly do or advice here; you would have to ask the proper smtp data from your webhost. If they won't allow you to use smtp: did you try sendmail (which is default)? In case you're self-hosted: I suggest you review the whole idea. There are only a few open relays around that I know of ;)...

edit include/mailer.inc.php to include smtp login info.

coppermine uses sendmail by default - I thought rtenklooster has already found out and edited that file. Maybe I did take for granted what I shouldn't have done: that he/she had already read the docs before posting... ;)

ah, ok. That's what happens when I skip the portions in parentheses. ;D

Yes,

i have read the documentation about send mail. But it is just that my  providers e.g. dont allow me to send with the script. With outlook etc i can send mail by ftp, but with the script i can't.

I have tried to use IIS 6.0 and configure a mail server. that's all working well, but i dont know how to configure it, to send mail to the internet. Maybe that's an option.

There's little we can do to help you configure your webserver. I recommend googling for a good tutorial on how to set up smtp with IIS. However, be warned that having a home pc as a server publicly available on the internet is an invitation for hackers, you shouldn't do that imo and review the whole idea. Instead, I recommend signing up with a good webhost.
