I've searched the boards and found some variations of this question but never a real answer - so sorry if I'm being blind and this is a commonly repeated question

I'd like to set different user group upload permissions for specific  albums.  In other words, I'd like only the staff user group to be able to upload to some albums - to be viewable by the general public.  And I'd like the general public (registered) to be able  to upload to other albums.

Is this doable?  I know that staff could have personal albums that are viewable to all, but I'd liketo use the user albums section for our public users.  I would rather have our staff user group have theri own category that only they can upload to, but that all can see.

All I see in my group control panel is a yes or no on blanket ability to upload.  I don't see how to relegate this permission to a specific category or album.

At the moment: this is not possible.
Can it be done?: surely, nearly anything is possible.
Is it hard?: yes, this'd require massive code and db changes.
Will you do it?: I haven't heard of a dev team member planning to do this.
Can I do it?: of course you can start a hack.

Thank you.  That's exactly what I needed to know.
