Make gallery offline option not working

I downloaded and installed the smf theme onto my server. The page is loading and seams to be working fine. However, It will not make the gallery offline when I select the option in the admin panel. It says the changes were made but when I access the page it shows the albums. When I go back into the admin panel. The offline option is unselected. I tried it several times with the same result.

Try running update.php then try the setting again.

O.k., This is probably a dumb question , but how do I do that?

Point your browser to update.php.

I ran the update.php and this is what it said:

Welcome to Coppermine installation • • • ERROR • • •  Before you continue with the Coppermine upgrade, there are some problems that need to be fixed.Once you are done, hit the "Try again" button.  

     Welcome to the Coppermine upgrade program • • • ERROR • • •  The following errors were encountered and need to be corrected first:

I ran it and it seemed ok. The offline feature showed OK, as if it hadn't been set earlier. Please try setting Config now.
