This is just for the benefit of other Firefox users.

Yes, I did read through 4 of 40 pages of threads looking for a similar circumstance, but most of them had to do with not following the instructions.

  • I performed CHMOD on all folders (and tried permutations with both 777 and 755).

  • I did properly FTP my files to sub-directories of the Albums directory.

  • I did (finally) arrive at the proper path to Image Magick for my hosting server (empty).

  • I did set up albums under a category.

  • And I did select the appropriate album as the destination.
I am able to see the Batch Add thumbnails just fine, and I am able to upload files just fine with the normal upload option, and I have tried with as few as a single file from Batch Add. I see no error message, just the table of source directory/filename/destination album and a completely blank column for status. It just stops dead. I even left it overnight (though that should hardly be necessary since the files are already on the server).

Then, just on a whim, I decided to try with IE (after Firefox, that feels much akin to cleaning my teeth with a toilet bowl brush). To my astonishment, it worked just fine.

Anyway, my conclusion is that it is possible to change some sort of setting in Firefox in such a way that it interferes with some process associated with Batch Add. I have not, as yet, discovered just what that setting may be.

I seriously doubt there's an issue with Firefox and Coppermine, as I've used FF since it was available and have worked on many Coppermine sites without any problems.  I'd guess this is on your end, but to verify you can PM me your URL with an admin login/password and I'll try batch adding images.  Just FTP some to your uploads directory, tell me what they are, and I'll try FF and try to duplicate it.
Do not send me a private message unless I ask for one.  Make your post public so everyone can benefit.

There are no stupid questions

take a look at your caching settings in FF.

I apparently didn't make myself clear. I'm not claiming there's anything amiss with Firefox, itself. My only intention was to indicate that it is possible to bollux up the settings in Firefox to a state such that batch adds are not possible.
