bach upload "Not Writable"

I am trying to bach load some images, and I've done it successfully before but now every time i view the batch add page it says all the folders in my albums folder are "Not writable."  and everytime i look inside one of the folders the images are there btu they only come up as little x's even though when i look at one of the images via their true addy they look perfectly fine?

how do i fix this

Use your FTP program or control panel app and verify that /albums (and all subdirectories) permissions are 777 or whatever are correct for your server.
