complete newbie needs overview of coppermine

i am looking into creating a website for photographers to display their pictures (for free) on the internet. i looked at this software but i am confused about the whole category/album thing. perhaps if i explian what i am after someone can point me in the right direction.

i want each photogpraher to have his or her own section with some space for a little bio and comments about how to contact them, etc. then in each section i want space for a sample (10 or 20) of their pictures. these pictures might well be categorized (portrait, landscape etc.)

i am not sure if i should create one album per photographer, or put each photographer in their own category or something completely different. i can roughly see how it would work for an individual photographer but not really for more than one.

can anyone help? are there other sites out there that do something similar? tia.
