I have an odd problem. Sometimes jpegs I upload appear as broken images, with no thumbnail. They have no uploading errors, no errors putting them in the album but they can not be viewed. Checking by FTP shows they exists in their 3 sizes and are set as 666, and deleting/re-uploading has no effect. Re-encoding the jpeg does not help either.

I'm baffled. Other uploads have been fine.

I include my debug output in case that helps.

a broken image is here http://www.leonard-cheshire.org/~copper/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-80

I've uploaded working images since, but the broken ones will not upload. It's weird.

Going to the url for the image gives this error:

The image "http://www.leonard-cheshire.org/~copper/gallery/albums/userpics/10001/095009.jpg" cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

Do me a favor: email whatever picture that is to junk@kazebeer.com so I can look at it.

Wow, did you view source on that bad image after the error?  Its got ton of embedded text in it...  I am not sure if its normal, but check it out

Lots of XML, adode and apple stuff... could that be throwing the browsers?

Please post for help to the forum... PM me only if you are sending security related items (passwords, security problems, etc).

Definitely something wrong - Photoshop won't load it.

"The document has an embedded color profile that does not match the current CMYK working space.
Embedded: Generic CMYK profile"

Once I converted it to RGB it worked fine.

Aha, brilliant. Thanks.

Looks like CMYK colour profiles are the problem then.

Joachim Müller

GD can only handle RGB, it can not handle CMYK, so yes: CMYK is the problem.
