Installed CPG... customized my own theme... up and running with no problems in minutes... very nice. But there's always that one little thing! If I've missed the answer to this forgive me and please direct me to it.

I'm in a very remote location with poor hf radio internet access so uploading videos and larger files via http usually fails. Instead, I use an ftp client to get these files into a folder on the server where CPG resides. I then proceed to use the URI/URL Uploads feature.

Problem is my site is protected by .htaccess and the only way this works is for me to temporarily disable the folder protection and then reenable after I'm done.

Is there a way around this so that PHP can access this custom folder without me disabling the .htaccess file all the time?

this concept is silly in the first place (I mean no offense). Using the URI upload after a file has been transfered by FTP to your webserver is redundant work. You (as coppermine gallery admin) should use FTP-upload and then batch-add. Refer to the docs: http://coppermine-gallery.net/demo/cpg13x/docs/index.htm#batch_add_pics
