Problems with ImageMagick

Hello together,

this is not direct a problem with coppermine but I had the hope to find help in this forum. Ok, I use a Linux Server with SuSE Linux 9.0 (i586). I went through the installation instruction (Install from Source instructions of ImageMagick) step by step. At the step where you the first time use ./configure and after make I got a few warning like "warning unused variable ref" and "warning unused variable ix". Everything else worked without a problem. At the last step I tried to control the installation by using this command "/usr/local/bin/convert logo: logo.gif and got this error message:

/usr/local/bin/convert: error while loading shared libraries: libMagick.so.9: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

When I tried to install coppermine on my server by using the path to convert I also got a message like " I found convert but not able to start it!"

On my server no ghostscript is installed already! Did anybody knows if this is the problem? Or if there is somebody who had the same problem please tell my how you solved it. I have not more ideas of what to do now.

Ah, before I forget to write... it is necssesary for me to use ImageMagick because I also want to work with .gif

just use the Suse rpm... that'll do all the dependencies for you

That sounds very nice, but I have to write that I am not an Linux expert. Please could you help me a little bit by using the Suse rpm. In other words: what do I have to write into the putty to solve the problem with ImageMagick?

you better ask your webhost to actually install ImageMagick for you - usually, you can't install unless you're root. Even better, use GD2 instead of ImageMagick if you have it.

and it's on the CDs as well.. so shouldn't be a problem at all to use Yast to install IM. If it's not your box then you better follow GauGau's advice
