Hi. This is my first time using this software, so I'm sorry for any noobish questions. I did do a search first, but it did not answer all of my questions.

I've noticed that users cannot create albums under categories, unfortunatly that defeats the purpose of my site. So I'm trying to work around it. As people upload pictures to public albums under the categories that I've created, how can I get the same picture added to thier album without the user having to re upload the same picture. I would like visitor to be able to browse the categories, chose a picture to look at, then look at that user's public albums. When I tried clicking on the name of the user under a category picture, it only shows the pictures of that album and not their public albums. If I can get this worked out, it would be tremendous.

Thanks

Just wanted to clarify what I was trying to do. I'm trying to prevent users from uploading all their pictures twice. One for the category and one for their personal album. I know the users will not understand this and wonder where their pictures went if they uploaded to a category. Thanks.

jgsketch,

The ability to link photos that are in one album to another album anywhere in your Coppermine install will be available in the next version of coppermine 1.4x.  Unfortunately, this version is still in beta and not supported, just yet.

But you may want to download it and play around with it in some subfolder of your domain.  Look at the many new features and admin controls.  Just understand that there is NO support for it and asking for it is really Asking For It..  :-X    It not for production use, just yet.   But, becoming familiar with a new version before upgrading your existing version is alway a good idea, I think.

There is no set date as to when 1.4x will be released as a stable version.  It will happen when it happens is all that anyone knows.  I can say from my first hand experience with the Devs that they are working diligently on getting this version out.

Thanks for your post. I was considering getting the other version installed, but without support, upgrading to the final version scares me a little. I would hate to have to redo everything. But I have downloaded it and will test it in a seperate part of my site to check out the new features. Thanks.
