Hi,

I am using Mozilla 1.5 and the language detection code does not work, English is loaded all the time. Basically I cannot change the language no matter what I do.

If I hit the site with IE then the language is detected properly.

Is anybody else using Mozilla? If yes, is language detection working for you?

Any clues?

Thanks,
Marius

The problem was with the language cookie.

Why is the language saved into a cookie? If you explicitly select a language then it makes sense, but when the language is detected from the browser then it should not be done in my opinion.

Thanks,
Marius

what if you want to set the lang explicitly? say for testing or if I wanted to show my french friend my site without changing my browser settings...

As I said, if you explicitly set the language then it makes sense to save it to a cookie.

The problem is when you don't set it and it is picked from your browser settings. Lets say I am a user with the browser set to first ask for Romanian. I hit the photo album and I realize that I would prefer the English version for some reason, changing the browser settings has no effect because the original preference is already saved. You cannot expect an end user to read the FAQ and delete cookies. Basically he is stuck with the original setting, no way out.
