Hello..
I had download CPG 1.4.2 and I had uploaded and tried installing.
I had given the correct permissions to the folders (CHMOD) with IP Switch WS FTP Pro.

The installation started correctly. After installation, i got this message
"Coppermine is now properly configured and ready to roll.

Login using the information you provided for your admin account. Do not hit back, do not re-submit the installer form!

Your server supports the following image package(s): GD Library version 1.x (gd1), GD Library version 2.x (gd2), the installer selected 'gd2'.

Important : the GD graphic library supports only JPEG and PNG images. The script will not be able to create thumbnails for GIF images. If you want the script to create thumbnails for GIF images, you need to use ImageMagick. "

Then there was a button which said "Lets Continue"

I clicked that and everything went blank.

Please help me out with this.
Regards,
Subhramani.

hey... thanks.
Works now.
What I had done was when applying the permissions (CHMOD) to the folders before install,  I had applied 777 only to the folder and not the files inside.
Now it works :D
Sorry about that.
Regards,
Subhramani.

I tried the same thing. Still stuck after two hours.

There's no doubt that I've uploaded all files.
http://trick-nielsen.dk/1/COPYING

http://trick-nielsen.dk/1/includes/config.inc.php is fine
The database is fine.
config.inc.php is fine
register_long_arrays is on
both gd and ImageMagick are working.
All files are uploaded. Every single directory and file is chown'ed to www-data:www-data. Everything is chmod 777.

The install screen
http://trick-nielsen.dk/1/docs/#install_screen_start
congratulates me.

But from then on: blank pages
Like this one: http://trick-nielsen.dk/1/login.php

I may be too tired, but I can't see where I went wrong and the docs doesn't mention this situation.

I have the same problem, but only in Internet explorer!

Just installed the Coppermine for the first time and it is a real cool program. But I have one problem: It is not working with internet explorer (6.0, SP 2, Cipher128)

In Mozilla Firefox everything is working just fine, but in Internet explorer I just get a blank page. I have tried to lower the security setting, deleting cookeries, added the site as a trusted site, but nothing is working :'(.

I have the same problem with http://snedker-nielsen.dk/1/login.php

Information:
http://www.danovergaard.dk/galleri/cpg142/login.php
Coppermine version 1.4.2
System: Linux
Server: Apache 1.3..33
PHP: 4.4.0

@Dan: Your site looks fine to me.  There isn't much I can recommend, other than check your computer's security settings, firewall settings, etc.

Thank for your reply

I have tried it on three different computers with the same resultant: blank page – no errors. I have accepted everything by default in the explorer setting incl. the lowest security level – what Ms-explorer are you using?

NB
Still works in mozilla

Thanks a lot Nibbler, Kego and Dan.

This is an extraordinarily strange error.
I cannot see my own site or Dans site on my Win98 box.
It doesn't matter whether I use IE, Firefox or Mozilla 1.7.
I cannot see
http://www.danovergaard.dk/galleri/cpg142/login.php
nor
http://trick-nielsen.dk/1/login.php

Then I switch to the laptop with XP. Now I can see my own site and Dans - in Firefox.
But in IE I get blank page, an empty document - just as I do on the Win98 box.

This is rather strange as I have never, ever experienced this behaviour before. Until today I've been able to view view any site with any browser on both machines. Actually using any browser on any of the machines I can view the 99.99999% sites that are just not fresh installs of CPG 1.4.2.

On the laptop I can log in, and everything is normal (and boy does CPG 1.4.2 ever look and feel good).

But using IE on the laptop or any browser on the win98 box just results in blank pages, whenever i try to view anything php (text files like http://trick-nielsen.dk/1/COPYING can be viewed by all browsers on all machines).

How on earth can this happen?
What's the bad thing about php? (Dan and I have different php-version, btw. I'm on 5.0.5)

If anyone knows anybody smart, please ask how CPG 1.4.2. can suddendly become unuseable by some browsers on some machines.

And the source to
http://www.danovergaard.dk/galleri/cpg142/login.php
says:

win98, firefox: <html><body></body></html>

win98, mozilla: <html><body></body></html>

win 98, ie: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN">
<HTML><HEAD>
<META http-equiv=Content-Type content="text/html; charset=windows-1252"></HEAD>
<BODY></BODY></HTML>

win xp, ie: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN">
<HTML><HEAD>
<META http-equiv=Content-Type content="text/html; charset=windows-1252"></HEAD>
<BODY></BODY></HTML>

win xp, firefox: This works well. CPG does warn the user that the browsers does not accept the script's cookies, but it's possible to log in and use CPG nevertheless.

As said all bad browsers can read plain files like
http://www.danovergaard.dk/galleri/cpg142/COPYING

Jep Danish

In have replaced the Danish.php in cpg142\lang with the suggested own from "videoarab" (see. http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/*checkout*/coppermine/stable/lang/danish.php Posted by: Nibbler - with an old one in cpg1.4 package. lang/danish.php)

And now it works

Thanks  - we got one happy Dane

Perfect! That solved it.

Are you danish by any chance ?

Yes, we're both danish and yes, it was the errornous/old danish language file included with 1.4.2 that caused all the trouble.

I got
http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/*checkout*/coppermine/stable/lang/danish.php
(get it using Internet Explorer - (my) Firefox adds three wierd characters in the beginning of the file),
copied it to the language directory and now everything works very, very well (oh well, made a few corrections to danish.php, if anyone wants them, say so).

Thanks a lot Nibbler! Last night I stayed up until 3am trying again and again to follow every instruction in the docs getting more and more frustrated.
I'm very much looking forward to play with 1.4.2.

Riri

Hi ! I got that same problem, I've tried everything you've said but it still doesn't work. I get a blank page when I try to login.
Please, help me  :'(

BTW, here is the link : http://kst4ever.net/cpg142/login.php

MauMau

This is a hastily fixed danish language file for CPG 1.4.2. Good luck everyone.
