Hi,

I'm upgrading from version 1.0 to 1.2.1. Everything went well, untill I wanted to copy the old albums directory to the new one. I tried to do this by downloading the old directory, in order to put it in to the new place and to upload it again. But all I got was 'permission denied' errors. All the pics in that directory are CHMOD 600 and I can't change this.

I also encountered this problem when I upgraded my own Coppermine gallery from 1.0 to 1.1.0. When I couldn't solve the problem I just started a new album, but this time I really need to use the upgrade, because of the size of the album.

Can anyone help this desperate Coppermine Fan out?  :D

Thanks in advance!

read the documentation carefully - you don't have to specify another coppermine folder for an upgrade, but you can exchange the files in your existing coppermine folder as well - this way, you won't have to download the albums folder and re-upload them to the new folder (steps: backup all files but the albums dir, backup mySQL db, upload new coppermine files replacing the old ones, run upgrade scripts, be happy).
Permissions level set to 600 is definitely not working, but hard to imagine - your coppermine 1.0 gallery wouldn't be visible if the albums folder was CHMODed to 600 (denying read/execute premissions to your site's users); this all boils down to permission settings - if you can't set permissions properly from your ftp program (possible if your server is configured strangely, try both 755 and 777), go for shell access (if this is an option for you) or ask your webhost to do it for you.
