I have an interesting idea to backup all the new images in the gallery by simply mailing them after they're either approved or added to the database.

This way you can save original images before they're being processed (resize/watermark) and save some space on your server (if you decide to erase the original). The main reason for this is backup - if your users post images by their own, and suddenly the server crashes and you lose all the new files, you can get them back from the mail account.

1. Open a special GMail account.
2. Configure this account in coppermine.
3. Every new picture is sent directly to this account and you have a mirror of all files for emergencies. GMail is 1-2gb so you shouldn't have any space problems. It supports POP3 so there shouldn't be a problem to get all of the files very fast.

The only thing left is to make it happen.

What do you think?

Would be an interesting mod, but not suitable to be a core Coppermine feature.
