Simple question: is the upgrading process the same, like for upgrading from cpg1.2.x or cpg1.3.x to version cpg1.4.3 ?

The table structure should be the same, so my question concerns running "update.php" file, which makes changes in the database - should I run this file during upgrading from 1.4.2 to 1.4.3?

Yes, as there are database changes between 1.4.2 and 1.4.3
