Error Code 46 with CPG 1.4.3

This evening I was trying to set up my Coppermine and I keep receiving the same error message over and over.

MySQL error was : Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (46)

I've went back and retraced my steps to see if it was an error on my part but, I can't seem to find the problem or where to begin correcting it (other than the MySQL server). If someone could help me, that'd be great. Thanks.

Try searching the web for the message. It's from MySQL not Coppermine.

Yeah, I've tried the MySQL website and I can't seem to find anything close to what information or help I need. I just don't know where to begin, as to fix the problem. So, I figured I'd try here to see if the same error was familiar to anybody else.
