when in category - link Album list = link Category

i thought it was a mistake of my own..... but i checked some gallery's in the 'share your gallery' topic and they have the same 'problem'.

I don't know if it really is a mistake, but i don't understand it.
So let me explain it  

when you click on 'My gallery' or on 'User galleries' or another 'category'. The link 'Album list' changes to exact the same as 'My gallery'.

example, when on main page the link of 'Album list' is http://yourserver/coppermine/index.php. But when you click on (for example) 'User galleries' which has the link http://yourserver/coppermine/index.php?cat=1 . The link 'Album list' becames the same (http://yourserver/coppermine/index.php?cat=1).

So you can't return to the mainpage http://yourserver/coppermine/index.php.


Is this really 'wrong' as i think it is, or do i make a mistake in thinking how the menu works?

This used to get me too, but its not an error.  The way to get back to the higher level(home page or category) is to use the breadcrumb.
This is the line in the table head that looks like this  Home/userpics/my album.  Click on home to get to the front page, and so on.

In the demo, it's just under the language selection box.  :wink:

yes, you are right! BUT    , the breadcrumbs (Home/userpics/my album.) only appear when you open a user album.

If you open 'user galleries' and you want back immediatly there are no breadcrumbs to use.......and the 'Album list' link isn't correct.

And above all, i don't understand why the 'Album list' link is not always linking to http://yourserver/coppermine/index.php ?

Have you got breadcrumbs specified in config, in 'content of main page'.
If not, this is why you are not seeing them when in categories.
I get them all the time.

The 'albumlist' link takes you to the list of albums in the current category.  It is not a category list.

You are absolutely right (for the second time   ).

because i already saw the Home/userpics/my album from time to time, i thought i already had enabled it..... but i hadn't.

The breadcrumbs work indead fine now!

(although I have some second thoughts about the 'Album list' button..... there will always be users that will try to return to mainpage by clicking 'Album list'......just as i expected.... but this is more an 'user friendly menu' issue than a bug/problem/error or something   )

you can add a permanent "home" button in your coppermine navigation linking to the very index page of your gallery. As an example, see the demo of the theme eyeball that comes with the coppermine package and features a "home" icon that will return you to the start page of your gallery.
