Links that open in new windows

I just switched from Coppermine 1.3.3 to 1.4.4 and in 1.3
you used to be able to put in a link that opened in another window.
In 1.4.4 it does not work.

1) How do I get that link to open in another window?
and
2) How come there is no link shown now when you view the thumbnail?
