Hi I have searched the forums and the only watermarking I can find is for the 1.1.x version or something like that. Is this possible with GD2 and your photo album version 1.2.1? If so, how?

Joachim Müller

The GD2 Watermark hack by DJAxion should work with cpg1.2.x as well (although I haven't tried yet).

Please take a look at the discusssion at old board: Protect images / add watermark before applying the hack, especially the pros and cons, and consider applying a watermark before uploading...

Firstly, are you overlaying text over your avatar image somehow? I guess so, as the clock on one of them has just been right when refreshed over a 2-minute interval.
This alone as a feature or hack would be watermarking enough for most users. Provided it doesn't cause the same amount of server load as the current watermarking hacks in use.

My main point was   If watermarking is causing too much server load on some servers, why not have a hack or future feature of watermarking during the last stage of the upload process? a simple checkbox on the upload page to enable it would render most of the watermark-hungry users quite, quite satisfied... and cut server load hugely compared to sites applying multiple watermarks per second.
Be kind, man. Don't be mankind.

Would cause just as much server load as the watermarking hack does, and an additional library would be needed on the server as pre-requisite: not an option imo (although I'm happy you realized it - take a look at the dev map on the about page as well  ...

This is exactly what we're working on for a future version of coppermine: adding the watermark on upload or with the "resize pictures" utility.
