I upgraded from CP 1.3.2 to 1.4.7. Everything was fine until I logged in into the gallery. I'm now a "regular user" without administrator's rights. The administrator menu has disappeared!!! When I enter into "my profile" I appear as a member of the administrator group, but I cannot find the button or link to enter into Administration mode.

PLEASE HELP!!! 11,800 photos are awaiting to be managed!  :(

Warm Regards,
Joel

This might be a theme issue.  Your admin toolbar is not being displayed by your theme.

Try adding "?theme=classic" to your URL and see if that shows the admin toolbar.  (in your case: http://www.galeria4x4.com.mx/photos/index.php?theme=classic )

You need to properly convert 1.3 themes to 1.4 (using the documentation theme upgrade guide).  Many of the contributed 1.3 themes have been converted to 1.4 themes.  Check the downloads if you are using one of those.

By the way, it looks like you upgraded to 1.4.6.  You should upgrade to 1.4.7 as soon as possible.

edit: Oh, the config panel is "admin.php", so you could type that in manually for now.

joelgomez

GauGau, I followed your advice and upgraded to 1.4.7. The problem is NOT solved yet. I can not access the administration panel, even trying to go directly to admin.php. The following legend appears "you do not have permission to access this page".

<looks around> Where's GauGau?   :)

Trying clearing your cookies.  Does the login page return an error?

Hi joelgomez, not that it will fix your problem but try logging on using Firefox. I am having the same issue and was going to post on your thread but when I read
QuoteWhen I enter into "my profile"
I thought we had different issues because I couldn't even get that. Anyways just a thought to try Firefox, it worked for me.

Joel,

I suspect that you used to have a bridged install for cpg1.3.x... Remember that when upgrading from cpg1.3.x to cpg1.4.x, bridging got turned off , you'll have to re-bridge using the new bridging mechanisms that come with cpg1.4.x.

joelgomez

Hi GauGau,

As far as I know, I never used a bridged version of Coppermine. All the time Ive used Coppermine as a stand alone script. The only thing running on my website is Coppermine. Ive done upgrades before, but never had this kind of problem.

Quote5.3.2 Recover from failed bridging

If you have provided improper settings using the bridge manager, your integration might fail, resulting (in the worst case) in a stituation where bridging is enabled, but you can not log in as admin to switch it off again (e.g. if you provided improper cookie settings that stops authentication from working). For this situation a recovery setting was built into the bridge manager: if you are not logged in as coppermine admin (in fact: not logged in at all) and you access the URL of your bridge manager (http://yourdomain.tld/your_coppermine_folder/bridgemgr.php) by entering it manually into the address bar of your browser, you are prompted to enter your admin account details - use the admin account you used to install coppermine with in the first place (the standalone admin account). This will not log you in, but switch integration off, so you can fix improper bridging settings then. To avoid others trying to guess your admin account details, there's a login treshold that rises every time you enter wrong credentials, so enter your admin account details with care.

SHALL I FOLLOW THIS PROCEDURE EVEN IF I WASNT USING A BRIDGED VERSION OF COPPERMINE???

PLEASE HELP! ILL APRECIATE IT A LOT.

Have you tried clearing your browser's cookies and cache?

Do you get any error message when you log in?

When you're "logged in", does it appear that you are logged in, just not an administrator?  For example, can you view your profile?  Can you view the Memberlist? (if you have "allow logged-in users to view memberlist" set)

Since I was responsible for the stability bug in 1.4.7 and I recommended you upgrade earlier in this thread, I'd like to remind you to upgrade to 1.4.8.  The change is small and won't affect anything here, but will fix that stability bug.

Yes, I just tried in factory/brand new computer with 0 cache, and the problem is still there!

Quote from: Paver on June 09, 2006, 03:36:38 PMDo you get any error message when you log in?

No, I receive no error message when I logg in.

Quote from: Paver on June 09, 2006, 03:36:38 PMWhen you're "logged in", does it appear that you are logged in, just not an administrator?

Yes, I appeared logged in, but NOT as an administrator... I dont have the link to change to an administrator mode, I canot acces the admin.php file even typing it manually on the browser. ("You do not have permission to acces this page").

Quote from: Paver on June 09, 2006, 03:36:38 PMFor example, can you view your profile?  Can you view the Memberlist? (if you have "allow logged-in users to view memberlist" set)

I can view my profile, and I appear as an ADMINISTRATOR there. I can view the memberlist, but I dont remember if I allowed non-administrators to view memberlist. A good friend of mine has administrator rights and he has the same problems that I'm having.

A few minutes ago, I received by email a "picture approval notification" (I never chose to approve photos, any user could upload photos without approval)... when I click on the link, an error page of my hosting provider appears on the screen.

Will I have to upload all the files again? This will be my third upgrade in a week! If that solves my problem, I'll be happy to do it again.

THANKS for your help PAVER... I hope to receive any further input to solve this issue.

Warm Regards,
Joel

What if you delete all but the albums folder and upload the new version :o of course you need to follow the upgrade docs.
Quote3.5 Upgrading from cpg1.4.0 or better to version cpg1.4.8
First, make a backup (dump) of your database.
Backup your include/config.inc.php file, your anycontent.php file and your "albums" directory.
Unpack the archive
If the file install.php exists in the root directory, delete it. When performing an upgrade, it is not needed.
Except for the "albums" directory, upload all of the new files and directories making sure not to overwrite the include/config.inc.php file, your anycontent.php file or the albums directory.
Run the file "update.php" in the coppermine directory once in your browser (e.g. http://yourdomain.tld/coppermine/update.php). This will update your coppermine install by making all necessary changes in the database.
If you have made a custom theme, apply the changes that were introduced in the themes structure to your custom-made theme - refer to the theme-upgrade guide.
Please note: as there have been changes both in the coppermine files and the database from cpg1.4.0 or better to cpg1.4.8, users of older versions than cpg1.4.8 will have to apply all steps mentioned above: both the files have to be replaced and the update.php script has to be run once.

There have been a few reports with this exact problem it seems.  But the reports are from various versions of 1.4.x, so it's not a 1.4.7/8 issue but rather something else in the 1.4.x series.  I'm not saying it's a bug yet because I cannot reproduce the issue.

Please check your cpg_usergroups table using phpMyAdmin.  Look at the record for "Administrators" and see what the field "has_admin_access" is set to.  It should be "1" for admins and "0" for everyone else.

QuoteWill I have to upload all the files again? This will be my third upgrade in a week! If that solves my problem, I'll be happy to do it again.
It won't solve this problem (I think), but you have to do it sometime, and it shouldn't hurt things.

Hi Paver,

I upgraded to 1.4.8 and nothing happened. I do not have admin acces to my site.

Since I did not find "administrator" record, Im copying what I see...

@joelgomez: On the page whose screenshot you posted, you need to click on the "Browse" button at the top of the page.  Then you'll see the actual records.  The screenshot you posted is merely the structure of that table.

joelgomez

It was as you posted, 1 for Administrators...

Whats next?  ??? :(

Hmm... I just thought of something - I don't know if it could be this simple.

Try this URL after you are logged in:
http://www.galeria4x4.com.mx/photos/mode.php?admin_mode=1&referer=index.php

joelgomez

Didnt work either Paver, the same "you do not have access to this page" legend appears...  :( ???

What else can I try? I appreciate a lot your help!

I'm not sure , but may be it's cookie issue ! did you edit your cookie path under config (take look at XXXX_config table and find "cookie_path" the value should be "/").
after comparing your cookie with mine and also coppermine demo I found a missed "%3D" before your site name under that.
- it's good if you can give us a screenshot of XXXX_config table.

edit: sorry , it's not cookie issue , as if it was you couldn't login
But I'm still worrying about missed "%3D" ???
