Ok, I will do that.

Ummm... I checked both servers: one says safe mode on|on (vpgdesamenhang.nl) where I have problems with batch-add
the other says safe mode off|off... there I don't have problems witch batch-adding... Could it be something todo with that ?
And if so: what should I do?

Try setting silly_safe_mode as suggested in the docs, maybe this helps.

I still got the broken link images when adding pictures (except when I forget to select an album, then I see the NA image),
at start the thumbnails are not displayed either. After logging out/in again and select batch-add and select the folder I just inserted
the thumbs are displayed, when I re-insert the images, I should get the "double data" image, but again the broken link
image appeard. When I right click and select props, I get something about 'does not exsist (but those images are on my server.

I turned silly safe mode on, as written in the docs, but with the same result - batch-adding pictures: NO thumbs as preview,
NO "OK" "PB" or "DP", (only "NA" appears when forgetting to select an album) but the pictures are again stored and displayed as expected.

I really don't know where to look now. It's weird.

Supp.

Before You'll ask  ;)
I don't have any ext. firewalls installed, except the one of Win XP and I use Kasperski Antivirus.
But I don't see the problem there, 'cause I used the prev. version of CPG with no problems with batch-add.
Anyway trying won't hurt: I disabled Firewall ánd Antivirus, but got the same results with batch-add.

I'm running out of ideas. Can you test from another machine?

Yes I can and I get the same result... no thumbs and only the NA image when forgetting to select an album...

Now, I did the following:

I tested my other Gallery ( upgraded from 1.4.5 to 1.4.8 ) at www.rolandmiddelveld.com/gallery and I get the same result "red crosses"
When I rightclick on one of those red crosses I get this:
- addpic.php?aid=1&pic_file=dGVzdC90ZXN0LTAwMS5KUEc=&reload=449ba87e0293d
and 'not availble' for size, type and date...
but the photo's are added and visible in the gallery ?!

I tested the gallery used here at work (1.4.5.) at www.houtindustriewinkel.nl/referenties and quess what:
everithing works fine, I get thumbs, OK signs, everything....!
Rightclick on one of the "OK images" gives me this:
- addpic.php?aid=34&pic_file=dGVzdC90ZXN0LTAwNS5KUEc=&reload=449baaaf804c1
including file size, type and date information (up_ok.gif, etc., etc...)

Now tell me, where's does it go wrong....?

b.t.w.: my personal website ánd the website of my work are both hosted at the same provider...

Ok I tested again today...
I installed version 1.4.5 and 1.4.8 on my system... running easyphp+mysql.
In 1.4.5. I batch add some pictures and see all the images (thumbs, OK image etc), clicking on the thumbnailsbutton result in showing the pictures I added.
In 1.4.8 I batch add some pictutes and see no thumbs, no OK sign etc, clicking on the thumbnailsbutton result in showing the pictures I just added.

Since this is a local machine, I use IM... but the webversions uses GD 2 and have the same results... 1.4.5. works fine, 1.4.8. has an error with
batch-add.

Maybe looking up the code and compare it ??  I don't have a clue where to look... please help

Yesssssssssssssssss I found the solution with 'red crosses' and not showing the images OK, DB, PB... when using batch-add!

It was the dutch.php (translation) file what caused this error.
First I removed the dutch language file, CPG switched back to english, and batch-add was doing his thing the proper way
(@Gaugau: that's why in your case when you logged in batch-add was working as you expected: you don't see the dutch translation,
but the english...  ;) )
After that I copied the dutch.php deliverd with CPG version 1.4.5, and batch-add is working properly now! (and in dutch)

Maybe usefull to mention in the 'upload trouble shooting FAQ' (and maybe I missed it been mentioned) that if there are problems
with CPG in any way: always go back to the CPG native, that means english, language and try again. If I realized this earlier  :D :D

I found a topic about this translation matter here at the forum:
http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php?topic=28539.0

Maybe it will help others, esp. new dutch users: I found some of them with the same issue, too?

I must thank you here at Coppermine for being patient with me and for trying to help me, but who thoughd it was the translation ???

Godspeed!

Thanks for coming back and sharing the solution. That would have been a difficult one to figure out.

witchdoctor

Hey, that's why this a support forum... helping each other is part of it.  ::)
I regret knowing too little of the program CPG and PHP itself, otherwise I could start a support board in Dutch  :-\ ;)
I found it hard to explain the situation in English, while thinking in Dutch and working with a Dutch version of CPG.

But it came out ok! Hopefully you and your fellow dev's can do something with this.

Hey, that's why this a support forum... helping each other is part of it.  ::)
You would think that but we've seen a lot of users who don't return to share their solutions, or even to confirm the given solutions worked. Worst, some people edit out their postings, rendering them useless, once they figure out the solution. So I don't take user contributions for granted.

witchdoctor

That's a shame, but you're right not everybody does that.
I promise hereby, next time I have troubles (hopefully not ;)) and find a solution (with or without the help of the supporters)
during the process of posting etc, I will post it so other users might benefit from it.

Oh, will you be so kind to mark this thread as solved?
