hi! im new to coppermine and ive just uploaded the cpg1.4.8 folder to my php domain. im reading through the 'README' section and it says i have to run the coppermine install by going to this address... http://www.yousite.com/coppermine/install.php. but when i go to that address its something completley different. could someone please help?  ???

oh i understand it now. im sorry, im onto the form now, thankyou! where it says 'mySQL host' it already has Local Host in it. Do i change that, or leave it how it is?

ok, thanks   ;)  hmmm... now it's saying this, i have filled the form in correctly, im sure.


Could not create a mySQL connection, please check the SQL values entered

MySQL error was : Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (2)

This really depends on your webhost.  With many hosts, 'localhost' is correct.  With others, they use a separate server and you have to specify this.  Since you're still having issues, you really need to check with your webhost.  Most hosts have this info in the user control panel, but if in doubt you can contact them.

the error said thet your MySql server is not "localhost", so do as tfischer suggested
if you can't find your server ask your host about that

i know the other problem has been solved, but when i try to log back into my admin account... it says this:


Coppermine critical error:
Unable to connect to database !

MySQL said: Lost connection to MySQL server during query


i dunno if im logging into the right place or not though, im a litte lost now.

Ask your webhost for support. This is something we can't solve for you, as we can't know your server setup.
