I was editing theme.php and include/functions.inc.php files attemting to change what appeared as alt text on mouseover of thumbnails.  I eventually accomplished what I wanted but later discovered when I attempt to login as administrator I get the Welcome message but the admin menu bar is missing completely.  Also, the header and footer code is visible on the page.  I backtracked and changed my edits back to the way they were but it didn't bring back the admin menu bar and the header and footer code was still visible.
I was using cpg_1.4.4, at the time with the "digital red" theme.  I checked and noticed I could upgrade to cpg_1.4.8, so I did hoping that would correct the issue.  It didn't.  My main browser is Firefox, so I checked it in IE but it behaved exactly the same.  I ran Spybot, Ad-Aware, and scanned for virus with AVG.  Nothing seems to make a difference.  I finally deleted the "digital red" theme directory, since I was unable to change themes through the admin mode, hoping cpg would be forced into the default theme.  Well, every thing remained the in the same broken status in the default theme, as well.  Does anyone have any suggestions on how I should proceed to fix this?
Thanks for your help!

Sami

- Never change function.inc.php for tweaking theme use theme.php instead
copy a fresh function.inc.php  to your include folder it's crrupted

Okie

Thanks for your suggestions.  Stramm, I cleared the cookies, closed the browser, re-opened but everything was still the same.  I deleted include/functions.inc.php from the site and uploaded a new file from the cpg_1.4.8, on my hard drive.  I closed out, the browser, re-opened but the problem is still there.

check your include/theme.inc.php and copy fresh one

Hi bmossavari.  I went to my database plugin table and deleted the TaGBlitz entry.  I cleared the cache and deleted all cookies, closed out the browser, re-opened the browser but nothing changed.  Thanks again for your suggestions.  Do you have anymore?  I game to try anything; that's usually what get me in these predicaments!

Sami

As far as I know, I'm not using bridge.  I'm not sure what it is or how to use it.  If I've done something in that regard, it was purely accidental.   ???

looks like some files haven't been uploaded properly or there are spaces at top (before the <?php). Check the mentioned files and the ones your modified

Okie

Yahoo!  That's an Okie yell of extreme happiness!   ;D  I deleted the udb_base.inc.php on the site and uploaded a fresh copy.  Now, when I log in the Administration menu is there.  The footer code is entirely hidden and everything there looks fine.  However, most of the code in the header is hidden, but one line still lingers.  Thanks for patience and assistance, bmossavari.    Stramm, thanks for your suggestion and I will pursue that.  "Spaces at the top" gives me an idea if I can just remember which file it is I suspect.
