Hello,

I installed 1.4.2 through Fantastico yesterday and began setting it up without issue until I was suddenly presented with a 403 Forbidden error.

The URL is http://www.cytex-ap.com/gallery

I contacted my host (BlueHost) and they told me to change all 777 permissions to 755. Everything is 755 now and I am still unable to get past this 403 error.

I went through and checked the directories listed in the FAQ here (/albums, /albums/userpics, and /albums/edit directories) and made sure they are 755 as well.

I found another post in this forum about a similar problem and saw a potential fix involving commenting out some lines in .htaccess but the .htaccess file does not have those lines in it that I can find.

I'm at a loss, but I have to get this working for my client. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

if you enable sef_urls plugin try to manualy disable it by delete it from xxx_plugins table using PhpmyAdmin

Thanks for the super-quick reply. :)

I have deleted the sef_urls entry from the cpg_plugins table (as best as I can tell, my first time using phpMyAdmin). No change.

I didn't even know I had installed that plugin. All I recall doing is looking at the plugins available while setting things up, but I think it was right after doing that when the 403 thing started.

Anything else I can try?

try to rename or remove your .htaccess under root of gallery

...and don't use Fantastico in the future, it sucks!
