Hi everyone.  I have been using coppermine for a photo gallery on one of my sites. Well, the server that my sites were on were hacked and the hacker replaced all files that were name index.* with his own index. My gallery is gone.

My question is, can I recover from this?  My SQL databases are all intact, and the photos and user dirs are fine. What would be the best way to recover from this. Can I do a ffresh install and use my old databases? How would I go about doing this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Update to the latest stable version, change your passwords and check for suspicious files.

I followed the update instructions to the letter, but now I am getting this error:

While executing query "SELECT * FROM cpg132_config" on 0

mySQL error: Table 'boodaddy_copp1.cpg132_config' doesn't exist

if you want to see what it is doing, the website is www.markofshame.com/gallery

what does this mean?

BooDaddy,

I just visited your website... It works fine for me and I am able to browse your galleries.

Yeah, I just now got it all working... I think.

What folders need to have 777 permissions?  I forgot.  I am actually doing everything over from scratch.

Yeah, your suggestion worked, I just had to change the config file... it had cpg_132  and it was supposed to be cpg_ for the append.

Changed that one little thing, and searched which folders needed 777 permissions, and all is well.

Thanks for everything. Lots of good info on these forums.
