"There was an error while processing a database query." when bridged with joomla

I have the following issue when trying to bridge coppermine and Joomla 1.0.11:
when coppermine is bridged and i try to view an intermediate image (viewing thumbnails is fine) i get this message:

"There was an error while processing a database query."

Debug info is the following:

mySQL error: You have an error in your SQL syntax.  Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'AS avatar_url FROM photography_comments AS c LEFT JOIN `******

This error does not occur when i disable the bridge

Coppermine install:
Forum install:
Coppermine version: cpg1.4.9
Forum version: Joomla 1.0.11
Test user account: ***************

BridgeManager settings:
Forum URL:  http://www.mehdiplugins.com/misc/index.htm
Relative path to your BBS's config file:  ../data/ 
Use post-based groups?:  0 

Coppermine is under the Photography section on the menu.

I appreciate the source of this error may be obvious to some of you , but to me it is not.  So please could i have some constructive help, i think i have read the manuals thoroughly and trawled through this forum.  I have not found anything that i understand how to impliment, if i have missed something please point me to a section/link.

If you are using some avatar mod then you need to seek support from the thread dealing with that mod.

I have the stramm modpack, with avatars disabled.  Problem solved through reading thread:
