Hi

Since a few days I have a problem with my album. I can login and got the message "welcome admin" but then the screen looks like before - so there is still the login-button and I can only see the public albums.

Is there any other possibiliy to get in to the tools / admin area?

Thanks for help

Try to remove cookies and temp internet files.

I assume you searched the board before posting the question ?

Cheers!

Thanks for the answer.

Yes, I did use the search and I allready did delete the cookies and temp files.
I also tried it on a pc who I newer ever had logged in before on that album.

I did not work.
So I'm still looking for help.

looks good to me...

- clear your cookies again
- make sure your browser is set to accept cookies
- make sure you don't have software running that blocks cookies

- I've cleared the cookies
- browser (firefox) is set to accept cookis
- I don't have any sw installed on this machine, which is able to block cookies - I don't think, that itunes can do that :)

It's still the same. I can enter the name and password and get the message "welcome admin" but nothings happens..
If I enter something wrong, the only thing i've got is an empty white page....

As I can see, my provider has removed applications for automatic installation. And I know, that the last time they provided the newest versions, I had to install my gallery completely new because I had still the newer one then they  offered. I don't know if they can "destroy" my installation just by adding a newer version to install....
Maybe the did do something on myphp and that caused the problem..

Well. Probably I will need to change the provider sooner then I wanted to..

Thanks anyway for help.

Don't use auto-installers like Fantastico - they are outdated and buggy. Only install/upgrade using the packages we provide, using the methods we suggest in our docs. If you are getting white pages, there probably is some whitespace in one of the files (probably your custom theme). Try using the classic theme.

I didn't update at all. My provider offers some tools to install and from time to time they update them. Usualy I have the newer versions installed by myself. And if I update, I take the packages from here and install it like it's written in the docs..

Thanks for the link. I tried it but it's still the same problem..

Are you sure you are not having the same problem as I had. This resulted from accidently pressing the 'restore to factory defaults' button in the config menu. To correct this I had to restore the config settings in the database.
It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.

I don't think so. I have not been in the gallery as admin for weeks. And nobody else could do so.

But maybe I could try it. My question is just, what to change, where to change and how to change...

I tried registering on your page, which doesn't work neither, so it's hard to suggest anything.
There are various threads on the board that explain what possible reasons could be there for the admin login not sticking.

Main reasons are:
  • client software blocking cookies
  • improperly set-up cookie settings on the server
  • whitespace interfereing with the header (related to improper file eidts or badly-configured FTP apps during upload)
  • paranoid security/hardening settings on server (only webhost can help)

Please search the board for some of those threads and the answers.

That's what I was suggesting: don't use auto-installers provided by your webhost, because they suck.
