I have upgraded before and all went well, but this time, things went haywire.

I first made a database backup of my site.

I used cpanel to upload and overwrite 1.48 with 1.410 files in file manager......no problems.  Updated then Version Checked.......all was well.

I looked at my site and it was back to the basic Coppermine theme/layout.  None of my theme changes, albums, photos, redirects, etc were there.

So i decided to go back to 1.48, and used cpanel to upload and overwrite all 1.410 files.  In version check, all files are 1.48.

I restored my database to the root directory, and I can verify that all photos, albums, theme files are there, but they don't show on my site.

I did an update.php...............all files had 1410 on them, but when i look at version check, they are all 1.48.

Can't seem to get things back to the way they were, and don't know how things went so wrong this time, as I upgrade as soon as an upgrade comes out, and hadn't had any problems.  I would consider myself to be "new" at most of this stuff, and have blundered my way through beautifully, till now.

Please help, as I have looked through the forums, at length, and find some things that touch on portions of the problem, but don't seem to address my particular issue.

Don't use cpanel/fantastico. Upgrade exactly as suggested in our docs, using the package we provide.

I have used file manager and uploaded each file, overwriting the previous version.  I have not used Fantastico.

I followed the upgrade instructions to the letter.

Are you suggesting that I go through the upgrade process again?  Will this bring back my website with all albums and photos? I considered this, and was about to upload 1.410 and overwrite 1.48 files, but I have -1kb of space and am restricted from uploading.

I would be happy to upgrade again, but I don't see how this will bring back my website, as upgrading took it all away.

What's the point of a web gallery with no space left for actual content. Upgrade, following the docs and deleting the unneeded files as per http://coppermine-gallery.net/demo/cpg14x/docs/faq.htm#minimumInstall
However, I'm sure that the actual waste of webspace lies somewhere else: most users keep the original sized pics at a resolution that doesn't make sense on the internet. This is where you can save space easily. For details, post a link to your coppermine-driven gallery once it's up and running.

Started the upgrade process, by replacing the files, had not gotten to the directories yet.  went in and deleted unwanted languages, flags, themes, and now was at 31 kb available space.

Tried the version check tool, and this is the error that I got:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected $end in /home/pnwart/public_html/art/versioncheck.php on line 2684

Really screwed up my site................................... and I was SOOOO proud.

Was thinking that you might need the root directory, didn't need it before the big screw up, but might need it now (?).

Thank you so much for your help.

If you get a parse error, the files you uploaded got corrupted. Upload a fresh copy (maybe from another mirror), making sure to use the proper FTP mode and to have your FTP client overwrite existing files.

Make sure that you have space left before starting to upload.

Excuse my silence, the holidays are making me crazy!

I upgraded to 1.410, and deleted duplicate stuff to free up space.  I had to redo everything, but all seems to be working great EXCEPT..................
**everytime a user logins, they have to go through Terms and Conditions and then their
summary page, everytime.  How can I  make this a one time thing, immediatly after they
    sign up?
**I set up a redirect that will not work, any suggestions?  I copied the addresses directly
from IE address box.  I've done this before and was successful, but this time it doesn't
    work.
**In config, I assigned anycontent/catlist/alblist, but Last Comments, Most
Viewed and Top Rated are still present in the left hand navigation bar.  Can you tell me
    how to remove those, please.

Thanks for your time, I know that it is the most valuable commodity.

‍I don't answer to PM with support question
Please post your issue to related board

OK, all is good (mostly), have a few issues to work out, but I have successfully made a cool website, and boy am I proud of myself for learning stuff I never wanted to learn.

Anywho..............I have one issue that is litteraly driving me crazy!  I can not understand Coppermines' thinking when it comes to putting 1 album in multiple categories.

I can get a link to an album in multiple categories, but not all files show in all of the different categories.  There must be an easy answwer to this one, but I can't seem to find it in all of the forums and documentation.  I have tried the same keyword for one album, but it doesn't work all the time.
Is there anyone out there that can help me..............please before they take me away, haha, hehee.
