First ask yourself.  Is this a problem that really needs to be solved?

Are you using the statistics for something else?   Your users just not observing your rules?

What damage is it doing?

Are you displaying the statistics with a mod?

Hi Donnoman, in my gallery photo contest, the winner is who has had more comments and votes. Many user have used these trick in order to increase own comments number, answering with thankses to every received comment. How to fix it?

sorry for my bad english :(

Tell them that they mustn't do this because it's unfair. Ban their contributions if they don't. It's just a matter of how you set up your terms of use.

As Donnoman suggested, you're using the comment feature for something it hasn't been designed for in the first place. Use the voting feature instead or come up with a hack that does what you're up to.
