hi Im usind the coppermine for some time and all work well.
recentlay thr web host chenged the premmison of the folders in the site for securty resonse.
no write premmisone on folder that contains php or script.
I noved the albume directory up one level and spasfied in the config screen ../albums as suggested in the doc.
it worked for a will but the host had made some more modfication to the sever.

the problam is that I can't write the thumb_ and normal_ files.
I get the
QuoteUnable to create thumbnail or reduced size image.
massege.

If I manuly upload thumb_ and normal_ via ftp and then use batch upload then it is working.
adding files from http don't work as well.
I tryed safe mode, didn't work.

the host suggested that there need to be a temp dirctory with write premmison but I dont know where to put it?
I made a temp dir one level up from the root but it didn't work (had a write premmison).
in the Doc suggested to
Quote7. upload_tmp_dir - This specifies the temporary directory where PHP stores uploaded files.
for window, may be this is the sullosen but where and how do i do it?
the host said that I can't use his dirctory for temp - and I think in the past that what I did and that the main problaem now.

I didn't put a tester user becuse of privecy meter on a public forum, I'm willing to send one on a pm.
thanks (and sorry for my english)

http://coppermine-gallery.net/demo/cpg14x/docs/index.htm#upload_trouble

Read and do as suggested so we can better assist you.

Coppermine's temp folder is named 'edit' and is in the albums dir. PHP's temp dir is where you define it (php.ini -> http://php.net/manual/en/ini.core.php#ini.upload-tmp-dir take care that you have write permissions).
If you don't have any idea what to do then ask your host to create a temp dir and to set permissions for you.

Make sure all folders are properly chmoded as written in the docs. First check this!!!

hi I've done what was in http://coppermine-gallery.net/demo/cpg14x/docs/index.htm#upload_trouble exept puting the site and test user on the forum, as I said befor.

the directory "albums" and all sub dirctorys are with write premison (can't check it but trust the host rep).
I'm not allowed to give write premison to any outher dir of cpg becuse they contain php code :( unless I will move them up one level so they will be higher then the php files (or script).
thanks

hi I've done ... exept puting ...

so you didn't do as I asked above

your temp dir... again:
QuoteIf you don't have any idea what to do then ask your host to create a temp dir and to set permissions for you.
And I guess you even don't have permissions to modify your php.ini. So you have to ask your host

I don't but Ive ask them end all the folder under albums are write premmiseble incl' edit dir.
on top of that I tryed with the host to specfay a temp dir one level higher but it didnt work too.

Creating a php temp dir (with write permissions) isn't related to coppermine. It's php/ apache/ os stuff. If even your host can't??? create it for you... what do you think the coppermine devs should do?

dannyf

the host said that he will not give premmison to a dir above the root. and he will not make any chenges to the php.ini.
my questuon is can I spacfay a temp dir under the root that it will function as the temp dir?
the albums dir have write premison and all dir under it.
thanks

As Stramm pointed out, this isn't related to Coppermine, but to webserver setup. There's no point in insisting on your question here. Only your webhost can do this for you. If your webhost refuses to create a temp PHP directory, then they don't know their business well enough. You should start looking for another webhost then, as you wouldn't want your webserver to be operated by amateurs who don't know their way around.
