We have two user accounts on this computer and both of them have passwords on them and this one is the only one I have acess to. The one I use is set on limited and I can't do anything on this user, like downloading winzip and stuff cause I have to have admintrations privliages to do stuff like that. So I don't know how to install my gallery without it. Can anyone help?

Joachim Müller

Ask the admin of your PC to install a Zip-Tool (if you don't have Windows XP, which comes with zip support out of the box). This is not something we could help you with.

Lana™

Oh yeah, I have Windows XP. How do I install it without winzip?

Joachim Müller

Extract the package using the context menu of Windows XP (something like right-click, extract folder. Not sure though, as I don't have Windows XP). I strongly suggest reviewing the idea to run a gallery on your webspace though - if you're not familiar with basic stuff on your desktop operating system, you might consider learning some things about it first before starting a script-driven gallery on your webserver.
Please don't expect us to guide you through stuff that is entirely client-sided. Just to make this clear: Coppermine is a webserver-driven application. It is not an app that runs on your client (desktop PC).

Lana™

Ah. I finally figured out how to install Coppermine without winzip. But the problem is, I keep getting the wierd error after installing it 4 times. Here's what comes up.

The installer is locked

The installer has already been run successfuly once and is now locked.

If you want to run the installer again, you first need to delete the '' file that was created in the directory where you put Coppermine. You can do this with any FTP program.

Before you continue with Coppermine installation, there are some problems that need to be fixed.

Once you are done, hit the "Try again" button.

Welcome to Coppermine installation
• • • ERROR • • •
The following errors were encountered and need to be corrected first:

Your admin account
This section requires information to create your administration account. Use only alphanumeric characters. Enter the data carefully !
Username
Password
Email address
Your MySQL configuration
This section requires information on how to access your MySQL database. If you don't know how to fill them, check with your webhost support.
MySQL Host
(localhost is usually OK)
MySQL Database Name
MySQL Username
MySQL Password
MySQL table prefix
(default value is OK; do not use dots!)
ImageMagick
Coppermine can use the ImageMagick 'convert' program to create thumbnails. Quality of images produced by ImageMagick is superior to GD1 but equivalent to GD2.

If ImageMagick is installed on your system and you want to use it, you need to input the full path to the 'convert' program below. On Windows the path should look like 'c:/ImageMagick/' (use / not \ in the path) and should not contain any space, on Unix is it something like '/usr/bin/X11/'.
ImageMagick path

Installation completed
Coppermine is now properly configured and ready to roll.

Login using the information you provided for your admin account. Do not hit back, do not re-submit the installer form!

Nibbler

You don't have PHP installed. This is mandatory, see the minimum requirements to run Coppermine.

Joachim Müller

Just as a clarification: Coppermine is not a desktop application - it is an app that is suppossed to run on a webserver that have the minimum requirements (as Nibbler pointed out).

Lana™

I checked with my web host and my gallery is now working. :)
