I'm trying to set up a coppermine gallery (fantastico).

when I try to http upload an image to my gallery; it say that it was succesfuly uploaded then when I click on "continue" I get this message.
"The previous file could not be placed."

When I goes into my host;
public_html / photos / albums / userpics / (current folder)

I'm unable to change permission. Everything is set to 777 but unable to change any number.

Under the current folder - I also have a page named"

"no_FTP-uploads_into_this_folder!"

I try to search under "coppermine" FQA but got lost with all they suggestion and never founded something about No FTP uploads..

Did anyone on this board had this same problem or know how to fix it?

Don't use Fantastico, it is outdated and buggy.

What do you mean by saying that you can't change permissions? If you can't, ask your webhost for support.

Just a file that is suppossed to tell you that you're not suppossed to FTP-upload files into that folder. Just do as suggested and don't upload stuff by FTP to that folder, simple as that.

Yes, many had a similar error message, as it is generic. Do exactly as suggested in the upload troubleshooting section of the docs

Thank you GauGau

I will do like you suggested and remove that fantastico and download it from the coppermine site.

The one that I downloaded from fantastico would not allow me to change permission. Each time that I try to change the 777 (highlight or delete it it would not do anything)

I was able to upload picture with http but it would never show  the picture in any folders that I created but you could not view or see them in coppermine - to view them I had to go through my host and click on the picture itself to see it...

thanks you for fast reply. I will go ahead and delete that fantastico and start from scratch.

No that is fine, like you mentioned fantastico had some bugs. I removed it and downloaded the one from the website and everything work just found now.

Thank for letting me know about fantastico...

My problem has been solved. :)
