I have a video in a cat' and I want to add a thumbnail.

Do the images have to be uploaded into ther same cat as the video? I don't want to have folders displaying images as this is just for video/audio storage.

If you mean that you want to fit this particular video with its own custom thumbnail then you might want to use search a bit. I'm quite sure there is already a thread that has that answered already.

1) Logically, files don't reside in categories, but inside albums
2) The custom thumbnail needs to be uploaded to the folder the video is stored in. For details, read the corresponding section of the docs: http://coppermine-gallery.net/demo/cpg14x/docs/index.htm#cust_thmb

does that make the image available to view? I just want the image to be used as a thumbnail and to not have a list of images

so I added the video and the image file to a folder in the albums section via ftp and batch added them both.

The Image has become the thumbnail for the album but I can't see how to make it the thumbnail for the video. I've looked at the link.

QuoteFTP upload both the video and (thumbnail or image) then batch-add. If you FTP upload the thumbnail, the thumbnail will be display in the batch add page instead of the default Coppermine thumbnail. If you upload an image it will look like the above screenshot. However, when the both files are added to the database, the thumbnail of the image will be used by the video.

that hasn't happened

Did you also do this:

QuoteTypes of thumbnails:
File-specific thumbnails must have the same base name as the file. Using the above screenshot of a video file as an example, the thumbnails for this file could be 'thumb_thailand_waterfall.gif', 'thumb_thailand_waterfall.png', or 'thumb_thailand_waterfall.jpg', and searched for by cpg in that order.

If you don't do that it will not work.

and batch added them both.
You were not suppossed to do so. The docs say that you're just suppossed to FTP-upload the custom thumb and that's it.
