I have the following issue when trying to bridge coppermine and SMF :

you can log into smf, then go to cpg and it will not reflect that you are logged in.  If you select the login link in cpg you will be taken to the smf login, but cpg still will not acknowledge that the user is logged in.

Coppermine install: http://lwhscs.com/gallery/
Forum install: http://lwhscs.com/forum/
Coppermine version: cpg v 1.4.10
Forum version: SMF v 1.1.2
Test user account (smf) : testuser / testuser
Test user account (cpg) : cmuser / cmuser
BridgeManager settings:
Forum URL:  http://lwhscs.com/forum
Relative path to your BBS's config file:  ../forum/
Use post-based groups?:  (no)
Cookie name/preifx (if applicable)  don't know.

Tried to login as testuser, both, from coppermine and the forum. Works smooth as butter. Please clear your cookies and retry.

Interesting...  Thanks for the quick response!
If I clear the cookies it seems to work once.  Meaning I can get logged in and move between the two.  If I logout from coppermine, i get a smf screen with the following message.  If I log out of smf, then go back to coppermine, I'm still logged in as the old user, even if I have logged in as another user to smf.  Then I can't get logged out from coppermine.

Unable to verify referring url. Please go back and try again.

Maybe you guys can tell me what my expectations should be.
I was expecting to be able to login to SMF and to be able to jump to coppermine and show that I am logged in and function just as though I had logged in there.
I also expected to be able to logout from either place.

I have been unable to to that.  What I can do is;
1) log in to SMF,
2) switch to coppermine (change the url to http://www.lwhscs.com/gallery) and have it reflect that I am logged in.

HOWEVER,
when I am unable to add anything to coppermine (whose permissions are used?  does there need to be a user in the coppermine db for the testuser?).  And when I log out of coppermine it fails showing the message about the source URL.
Conversely, if i log out of SMF, coppermine still shows me as logged in and i can't logout.

Can you tell me what IS working for you?  Perhaps I don't understand what "works fine" actually means.

Thanks again.

As said, works fine for me. If I do not see any problem I can't give you much advice. What I did:

Logged in through the forum URL then opened the gallery... I'm logged in there too (as expected). Logged out through the gallery link.
Now I switch to the forum, I'm logged out (again as expected).

I now try the same vice versa. Login through the coppermine link (it redirects me to the forum, there I type username and password -> redirection back to coppermine, perfect). Now I go back to the forum to check if I'm logged in there too... good. I log out now using the forums button. Checking the gallery... logged out.

All working pretty perfect.

Unfortunately I don't have the same result.

I get this message (attached pdf) when I log into smf, then switch over to coppermine (everything is fine here), and then try to logout from coppermine.

I have tried it with multiple computers and multiple browsers (firefox, ie and safari), but they are all on macs.

I just tried it here with an XP pc with the same result.  I can log in, but if I try to logout I get the same message (attached above).

rjwhelan

I tried it again from various remote sites, all with the exact same result...
I can log into either site.  I cannot log out from the coppermine site...  It fails every time.

So your only issue is the logout link from Coppermine? Everything else works as expected? Then just don't use the logout link (or even disable it).
