group settings reset automatically

hello

i've got the following problem:
after changing any group-permissions in my coppermine-gallery (v1.4.10, unbridged) it does change their permissions, but not the names. after opening the group-manager again, the groupnames are set to their default values.
when i switch to the category "admin-tools" and then go back to group-manager, anything - even the permission - are set to default values.
this problem is very annoying and i didn't find a solution for it via google or boardsearch.
maybe, it has to do with a phpbb-bridge i had once, but i deactivated it and even resetted the bridge-table in DB.

please help me and forgive me my cruel englisch
