Hello, and thank you Coppermine team for a fantastic bunch of code!  ;)

I have a problem installing, I get the error:

Admin username and password must only contain alphanumeric characters.

I searched the topics before posting with the error message, so I made sure the The config.inc.php has the correct info in it. The problem I am running into I think, is that my login has a hyphen in it, and the install states that I can only alphanumeric characters. Do I have to contact my webhosting (oneworld) to get my login for my database changed to remove the hyphen?

If this is the Coppermine login and password then you make one up - it does not need to match anything else.

No, this is at the very first page, when trying to set it up on my server.

(ie. "Welcome to Coppermine installation" then you input the database info, etc)

I have contacted oneworld, and they will change it so the hyphen is no longer there. (hope this doesn't breat my SMF board!)

Thanks though

ComputerLady

My domain name has a hyphen in it, but my hosting company (wisely) did not use too much of that as my account login ID or for connecting to my services. But then, I ran into this same issue on a previous hosting company (inability to connect with services included in account). If they did include such a character in your account, then they are going to need to fix that. Just remember - when setting up stuff like your user in the my MySQL to avoid such characters too!

BTW, if they are changing that, it will probably shut SMF down as it won't be able to reach your database. As I recall, there was a message thread over on their site for how to resolve that which I believed was to go into one of the files on the server and make the change manually. Pretty sure it was one of the files on the server and not something inside the database. Sorry, was quite while ago that I ran into that problem myself so I don't remember all of the details. Hope things work out for you!
