Greetings,

As taken from the file Readme.Txt as packaged with v1.4.12:

>You could put them in your root directory (not recommended) or upload the coppermine directory to your website.

Doesn't the file Index.Php need to be in the root, so when a User goes to www.mysite.com the home page will be displayed?

Thanks,

Lyman

If you want to people see your gallery by going to www.mysite.com then YES you should upload all files (index.php too) and folder to root

That's exactly what readme.txt says. Let me quote it here:
QuoteQuestion: Where do I put all these files?
Answer: You could put them in your root directory (not recommended) or upload the coppermine directory to your website. If you are uncertain about where exactly to upload it,ask your webhost into what folder you need to upload your html and other script files. We recommend uploading the directory cpg140 (and all the files contained within) directly to your webhost's recommended folder and renaming to your liking after the upload is complete. Compare your uploaded files with your coppermine package. Make sure all the files were successfully uploaded.
What's your actual question?

Thanks Gau-Gau. I'll be using Coppermine as a standalone product such that when people type in the URL to my site they will be greeted with the home page, which will be the Gallery as powered by Coppermine.

Since Index.Php will have to be in the root to accomplish that, I can't see how I can have Coppermine itself in a subdirectory. And if possible I'd rather not upload everything to the root (it's not recommended as you know).

Thanks,

Lyman

Why not? If you want coppermine's index page to be the index page of your entire site, then go ahead and move coppermine's content to the root.

Thanks. I just thought it'd be more organized with all Coppermine content contained within a subdirectory.

Many thanks for your help with this. As always, very much appreciated.

Have a good day,

Lyman
