My system is no longer processing new picture files. I upload all files by FTP, CHKMD directory to 777 and Batch add files. No thumbnails are generated and red X where it used to be OK. Clicking on image title in left column will bring up a window with the image file. It is like it is not operating GD or imagemagik.

This error started in version in previous version 1.4.11 and still does not work in version 1.4.12 . As far as I know it started suddenly.

Using 1.4.11, I am unable to make administration changes. Then suddenly it stopped making thumbnaile and adding pictures alltogether.
I updated to 1.4.12 but it did not fix the problems. Has anyone know the problem and solution?

Do exactly as suggested in the upload troubleshooting section of the docs.
I merged your identical threads into one. Don't double-post nor cross-post.

My second post is actually the problem I encountered after attempting to troubleshoot the upload. I receive this message:
QuoteForbidden
You don't have permission to access /gallery/admin.php on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Please advise my next step.

Make sure that there is no .htaccess file interfering. The "403 forbidden" error is not related to coppermine, but a restriction imposed on your webserver. If you can't figure out, ask your webhost for support - maybe they have a restriction in place that doesn't allow you to access files named "admin.something".

Wow! What happened to MY thread? Where did all these snide remarks come from?

My host is working the problems. It appears that the updater may have messed up the rights. I will report back if a solution can be found.

Split unrelated posts by webmisslala and merged with existing thread http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php?topic=45926.0

Are you referring to Coppermine's update.php or something else?

BitzyB

Status as of now is such:

Host says they don't know what is wrong. They say there seems to be some problem with the rights of the directories.

I used Fantastico to install a new version 1.4.12 on a new subdomain to my site and the problem is not corrected. It is back to before they "fixed" it the first time. I have no rights to update the config file and I cannot install new pictures.

It might be possible that Fantastico, itself, has created these problems.

I will attempt to install Coppermine without using Fantastico.

Fantastico sucks. Only supported install/upgrade method is the one we suggest in our documentation.
