Can I connect to an existing database, when installing?

I was running cpg on a linux server, until the site went down. The tech support staff managed to get my hosting account back online, minus the website itself. They did however manage to save the old MySQL database, which contains the galleries, registrations, etc (I hope).

Now that I have to re-upload my website, re-install my scripts, is it possible to install cpg and connect to the existing database and tables so it can retrieve the information already stored?

If yes, how do I do that?

Coppermine will use whatever database info is in include/config.inc.php.

Are the images itself stored in the database as well? I can connect to the gallery, it shows the users, etc, but there are just blank boxes where the images should be. The image titles are there.

No, obviously, the images are not stored in the database, only the relative paths that point to the images. Right-click, properties on any (missing) image to find out where coppermine expects to find it.
If you still have your original pics, use coppermine's admin tools to re-build the thumbnails. Posting a link to your gallery might help as well.

So do I (and everybody else) have to re-upload the images to its respective albums and then I just re-build the thumbnails? Or would it be easier to delete all albums and start from scratch?

With only 64 images that reside in your database :-\? Perform a fresh install and re-upload all pics. I thought we were talking about thousands of images...

Sorry, no. I was merely thinking about saving registered members the hassle of having to re-register again. The images itself are no problem, they can be uploaded again anyway.

If you want to preserve your registered users, just empty coppermine's pictures table and re-upload the pics.
