Unable to connect to database !

I have 5 sites on the same server - one of the sites now has the following error:

Coppermine critical error:
Unable to connect to database !

MySQL said: Client does not support authentication protocol requested by server; consider upgrading MySQL client

Any advice?

MySQL version 4.1.22-standard

Read what the MySQL manual says about the error message. It's not a Coppermine issue.
