I may be having the same problem.  I have a Sitegrounds site and used fantastico to install coppermine on a subdomain of my main web.  The install went fine, the software runs fine, and I had no problems uploading images.  However, when I view the pages my browsers are behaving as if the images aren't there and are displaying alt text instead.

I have checked this on another computer and it is getting the same problem.  Pages load fine, but images aren't displayed.  When I drill in and isolate an image URL and bring it up in a browser, no problems - but served from the page - the images won't load.

**** NEWSFLASH ****
I solved the problem as I was typing this message out.  ::)  I recalled there are a number of bandwidth protection mechanisms provided by the Sitegrounds servers - and one of them is hotlinking protection.  When I looked in there I found a list (I must have created) of domains allowed to hotlink images.  My newly created subdomain was not yet on that list so of course the server was actively blocking the image display.  Problem is now all fixed.
