I have a server at home running Debian etch11 with Apache2, MySQL 5 and PHP 5.2 on an AMD 64 processor. This is where I have installed the coppermine php scripts.

I have tested that PHP is being handled correctly by creating a "hello world" php page in the coppermine directory. It shows the results of phpinfo() appropriately.

When I attempt to open the install.php page, I am prompted with a download instead of the install page.

Please advise what may be causing this behavior as PHP seems to be working but the install.php does not.

I have resolved the issue. I did not have the GD graphics library installed on the server. Once I installed GD, the install page would render. It would have been nice if the install script would have alerted me (on the page or in a log) to the missing dependency rather than not render.

Not sure why that would be the problem. Coppermine can run just fine without GD.
