[Closed]: Memory used

Hi I read through some of the docs and changed my php.ini to allow 20mb of memory usage and I still get the fatal error for exceding memory when trying to upload 1 pic. I am pretty sure that Image Magick is on my server but I can't figure out the right path yet until my host gets back to me. My question is will this even solve the problem or not? I don't want to have to resize the pics before because I wanted to be able to trade pictures with family so they could use them. Resizing them will only make them ugly to ever print out at normal size won't it? Let me know if the Image Magick will help or not. Thanks.


If there is something that I missed in the massive pile of docs then point me there and I will be happy to read.

I figured out the path to ImageMagick but now when I click continue after uploading and go to the file name and description page the thumbnail doesn't show and after filling in info I get one line that says The previous file could not be placed. and another right below it that says.You have successfully placed all the files. Any info would be great. I know in the docs that it says something about asking for support with image magick but I really wanted to get this going and figure there isn't too many other places to go for help with this. Thanks.

If someone that uses Image Magick would be so kind as to give me a copy of what you use for the command line options that would be great. I have been reading through image magicks site for a while and am more lost than before.

I went to my other site which also uses smf but I use smf gallery lite there, which I believe uses gd also. I was able to upload the pics there full size with no problem. Both of these sites share a /home directory on the same server but are in different directories within the home one. If that makes a difference then let me know so I can straighten it out. Sorry to make so many replies but no edit function.

Ok I switched back to GD and did everything from the link you posted. I still get this error when trying to upload. Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 20971520 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 11424 bytes) in /pathtofiles/forum/gallery/include/picmgmt.inc.php on line 262


Here is the info from the debug box. If one of the settings is just wrong feel free to let me know. Thanks. The size of the pics are 2856x2142 and are around 1mb each with some up to 2mb.

Who asked for that? In fact you did quite the opposite of what I asked you to do. Do as I suggested: read up the documentation, particularly the section I refered to above and do exactly as suggested there. It's no coincidence that I have written the word "exactly" in bold.

Sorry that I didn't see the part that said not to post the debug info unless asked. I have some reservations about giving a test account out in a forum is the reason I didn't do that. I really don't need to come here and be treated this way at all. If you don't want to offer support to the public, and by public I mean people that don't understand or have the time to read through your massive list of docs.(which is nicely made and very complete) Then you shouldn't release this for public use. I made a test account and they saw nothing different when uploading than I did. So other than that and the debug info I did follow your instructions, not the exact opposite. Thank you for the support thus far but I think that this software isn't for me. I don't know much but I know when to say no, and when to make a change. Thanks again for the help.
