I have successfully transferred my Gallery over to my new host but the images are all broken, what do you think I did wrong or what am I missing. Please someone help me get through this nightmare of switching hosts.

What is the +777 and /images stuff I was told to add to my directories?

Here is the link...

It looks like none of the photos have been transferred from my albums file on the old host into the new one? What would be the process to do this?

teambajamarine

It gets better , I tried to upload a test phot just to see where it owuld end up and this is what I got...

Failed to create directory albums/userpics/10008 !
Warning: mkdir(albums/userpics/10008): Permission denied in /home/tbmbboa/public_html/Coppermine/db_input.php on line 210

If you're on a linux/unix host, verify that the coppermine folder is actually named "Coppermine". It's case sensitive. If that's correct verify that the "albums" and "albums/userpics" subfolders are chmoded correctly.

I am think I am going to give up on Coppermine and move on, its just to difficult for me to try to fix, I went through weeks of sleepless nights trying to get it up and running and here I am back again just trying to do a simple site transfer.

Gau,
Yes,
I thought transfer was very simple and I thought everything was in place, but again I am having the problem of the pictures not showing up. It would be great if I could get a bit more help troubleshooting my problem then a link to the FAQ that I have read over and over.

Casper

I have tried to use the absolute path to look at some of your pics, and always get a '404, page not found'.

For example, pic 10 from the 'bikini' album, titled 'buns', should be at http://www.teambajamarine.com/Coppermine/albums/userpics/10021/buns.jpg.  But it's not there.  Which leads me to think you have somehow changed the directory structure during the move.

It has been a long time now since I did my little bit here, and have done no coding or any other such stuff since. I'm back to being a noob here

Casper,
Thank you for your reply. Youy are correct when you say that the directory is not there. albums and userpics folders are there just not the 10021 (and others) folder. It is residing still on my old server and not on my new one and I cant for the liufe of me figure out how to get all those folders into my new host.

Joachim Müller

apparently you haven't moved all contents of your albums folder (with all subfolders and files) to your new server. When going to your gallery and right-clicking on the first broken thumbnail, I choose properties and find out that the coppermine database thinks the file is to be found at http://www.teambajamarine.com/Coppermine/albums/userpics/10103/thumb_DSC00319%7E0.JPG
If I manually enter this thumbnail url into the address bar of the browser, I get a 404 error page
QuoteNot Found
The requested URL /Coppermine/albums/userpics/10103/thumb_DSC00319~0.JPG was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Apache/1.3.29 Server at www.teambajamarine.com Port 80
This means the file is not there. What else could I exactly do to trouble-shoot for you? You could try using the resize-pictures utility to re-build the thumbs and intermediates, but the original (full-sized) pic that is supposed to be at http://www.teambajamarine.com/Coppermine/albums/userpics/10103/DSC00319%7E0.JPG isn't there as well.
Start off again by verifying that the contents of your albums folder is actually there and can be browsed.

Ok,
How can I get the folders and files from my old host into my new one? There seems to be no utility on my old hosts site to do this.

Joachim Müller

the utility is called ftp! Download the albums folder from your old server by ftp to your local hard drive, then upload it by ftp to your new server.
That's why I posted the link to the instructions:

  • Backup your files: FTP-download your complete coppermine-folder to your hard drive

Gau,
Working on it, easier said then done with my old hosts interface. Stop yelling at me! I know I dont know what the hell I am doing. ;D

So I am in the process of now uploading after a huge download session with a 3rd party FTP software program. I am now restoring my directories and files. Slowly I am starting to see my thumbnails and photos in the site. This has been an all day process with still hours to go on the upload, but I thank you all who have responded and tried to help.
