Usd ftp to upload - now what do I do?

I searched this forum yesterday and found a nice set of step by step directions that told me how to use ftp to upload files to my site and then get coppermine to recognize them.  I can't find that page now   Can someone please help - either by helping me find that page or by telling me the last couple of steps to get all 700 of my pics accessible?
