Error when uploading pictures

Hi all, Im new to this and have just started batch uploading my pictures but i don't get an OK when they are uploaded, when clicking on the section that should have the ok image in it i get the below message

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 20971520 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 2592 bytes) in /home/fhlinux146/o/MY SITE/user/htdocs/include/picmgmt.inc.php on line 262

Is this because the pictures i am uploading are to large? all the pictures are around 2592x1944, Do i need to resize them?
