I am moving my site to a new host.  Coppermine 1.4.19, Joomla 1.5.7, mehdi bridge.
The new joomla site works.  I restored the coppermine  sql database from the old site to the new site with phpadmin.  This is the error message:
Coppermine critical error:Unable to connect to database !
MySQL said: Access denied for user 'cromwel_copp1'@'localhost' (using password: YES)
When I restored the database I created a new user and password.  How do I get coppermine to use the new user to connect to the database?  where do I check the settings for the database users passwords etc?
I still have cpanel access to my original site.
I know I need to upgrade to a newer version of coppermine.  Am I better off doing a new install? If I do can I keep my existing albums?

Once you have upgraded your coppermine to 1.4.20 and Joomla to 1.5.9 (or you are asking to be hacked especialy with that version of Joomla) then you should edit include/config.inc.php in your coppermine folder.
It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.

thanks. I edited the config.inc.php file with the new db info. this allowed me to get to the coppermine page, but it is no longer displays properly in the joomla wrapper.
Should I do the upgrades before I get this working right.  I had planned to get the new site working, back it up and then do the upgrades. And should I upgrade joomla then coppermine? Do I need to do anything about the bridge?

Looks OK to me.

You should upgrade straight away.

As for the bridge, it is a third party component that goes unsupported here. Having said that, I use it. Just make sure you do not use the files the author provides as they are out of date. Instead make the changes to bridgemgr.php and includes.inc.php as recommended on the auhors site once you have upgraded to 1.4.20 and upgrades joomla. The whole lot should take less than half an hour.
