I created categories, sub-categories and albums with my admin name.  Then I go to my user screen name and try to upload, and always get this error message: "Sorry there is no album where you are allowed to upload pictures"...

What have I done wrong???

You probably have not changed the album properties to allow visiors to upload.  This allows users who are in a group with upload permissions to put pics in that album.
Click on the 'properties' button, next to the album thumb, when in admin mode.
It has been a long time now since I did my little bit here, and have done no coding or any other such stuff since. I'm back to being a noob here
