Background images

Can you give me a hint on how to add a background images as seen in this site:
http://www.bushpilotbiking.com/gallery/index.php

I tried to modify the style.css file in my theme (Eyeball) but it doesn't change anything (I even deleted the style.css file end it doesn't change anything).

Remember, your browser has a cache. If you deleted the css file then you must have been viewing a cached page as this would surely made a big difference otherwise.
